The planetary alignment of Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Mercury is happening over the space of the next few days. Early risers out there will notice bright dots in the eastern sky, which is Venus and Jupiter, and in the coming days will be joined by Mars and Venus. This event occurs only once every 50-100 years and according to Geoffrey Wyatt, of Sydney Observatory, the last time Australians saw such a show was in 1910, and the next occasion would not be until 2056. The great thing about this is the fact that you just have to look to the eastern skies in the morning, between 5-6am and you can see the event with the naked eye, without the need of a telescope.
